Civil Engineering is an old age branch of engineering that originated from the day Civilization had started. Civil engineering is an exciting profession because at the end of the day you can see the results of your work, whether it is a completed bridge, a high-rise building, a subway station, or a hydroelectric dam.
The main objectives are to utilize the available natural resources effectively to develop the nation from different perspectives so as to satisfy the needs of modern civilization and to compete with global challenges.
Over the years the department has nurtured young minds to produce bright, able civil engineers. The department has expertise in almost the entire spectrum of civil engineering, offering programs in Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Infrastructure Engineering and Management. Many of our faculty members and students are involved in research activities in various areas of civil engineering. The department is also very active in conducting conferences, workshops, short term seminars etc. The department has been constantly involved in a range of consultancy projects.
The faculty of the department continues to strive loftier by exploring new frontiers of knowledge, imparting the latest technical knowledge to the students and conducting high quality of research. Civil Engineering deals with engineered constructions, their planning, design, construction and management. The profession comprises of many disciplines like Structural Engineering, Geo-technical Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Surveying. In any activity ranging from defense and industrial development to social welfare and economic growth, it has the largest quantum of resource allocation and utilization.

About Civil Engineering:
Civil engineering is the professional practice of designing and developing infrastructure projects. This can be on a huge scale, such as the development of nationwide transport systems or water supply networks, or on a smaller scale, such as the development of individual roads or buildings. All aspects of building a structure fall under the remit of a civil engineer. This can include planning, design, budgeting, surveying, construction management and analysis, and often civil engineering careers encompass a combination of all these elements.
The great thing about civil engineering in the real world is that it’s an industry that perpetually adapts to the demands and desires of society. In recent years civil engineering has adapted to consider many contemporary environmental concerns, helping to address issues of pollution and scarce water supplies, while considering the potential of sustainable energy within the industry.
